We support individuals across Australia in sourcing the necessary communication aids and provide guidance on their effective use.

At Good-Will.au, we recognise the critical role of effective communication. We provide a diverse selection of low-tech communication aids aimed at facilitating expression for individuals. We emphasise the importance of communication methods that enhance speech, commonly referred to as Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC).

Research demonstrates that AAC not only supports speech development but can also foster improved communication skills. Our dedicated team is committed to assisting you in sourcing personalised, high-quality communication aids and offering comprehensive training on their effective use.

Using your communication aid

Conversations occur for a multitude of reasons, and it is essential that your communication aid or system is designed to facilitate the types of interactions you wish to engage in. For instance, you may employ a communication aid to:

Engage with friends, family, colleagues.

Comprehensive expressive aids, such as PODD books, alphabet boards, and communication boards, provide a diverse array of messages represented through letters, words, images, and symbols.

Achieve specific objectives.

Communication tools, including books, boards, and cards, are beneficial in particular contexts, from flagging a taxi to participating in your favorite board game. Targeted expressive aids contain a limited selection of messages intended for specific purposes, such as community request cards, choice boards, and activity-specific communication boards.

Organise daily activities.

Utilising visual cues and reminders can enhance your understanding of daily events and tasks. These aids also assist in conveying abstract concepts, such as time. Examples of targeted aids include picture or object calendars, shopping lists, first-then boards, task schedules, and social stories.

Illustrate your preferred communication method.

As we interact with various individuals throughout the day, an information aid effectively communicate your preferred modes communication, personal preferences, and successful.
